#1 Open Seeds post unique win over crafty opponents

posted Oct 26, 2013, 11:45 AM by Ben Combs
The first round match for Darrin Cohen and Eric Roberson took only an hour but opponents Ben Edwards and Paul Phillips gave them a few different looks in route to their 6-3, 6-0 win on the Combs court today.  Most notably was the "sand wedge" drop shot by crafty veteran clay player Paul Phillips.  After the match Cohen and Roberson admitted they had "never seen that shot before".  The match also featured almost perfect lobs by Edwards and Phillips but in the end the #1 seeds handled all the craftiness with a smile.  They move on to the second round and play Dan Becker and Whit Livingston Sunday 10-27 at 9am on the Combs Court.
