Big First Weekend for 2014 Clay League

posted Oct 20, 2014, 10:44 AM by Ben Combs
We got all the matches in and there were not any big surprises…… Except maybe the slow start from Yas and Robo in their Open Match against Loren Harmon and Josh Albert.  Folklore has it that last years mixed winners now playing in the Open Division went down 1-5 in the first set against Harmon and Albert then rattled off 11 straight games to win 7-5, 6-0.  The biggest surprise……. no racquets added to the Wall of Shame!  Now the great part, with this feed in from the losers bracket, Harmon and Albert are still in it if they keep winning.  Same for last year’s second place team of Shinny and Garcia. They lost a tough one to Whit Livingston and my buddy Scott Colby, 3rd set tiebreaker. You should have seen the long faces until they realized that they are still in it as well.   Shin/Garcia have to get past the kids from Rio, Lovasz and Lonergan next Saturday and those kids are very talented but no one is out until they lose once in the losers bracket all the way to the finals.

Lots of tennis left.  See everyone next weekend.  Also, check your times again tomorrow, Dave and I have to make some slight adjustments.  There were a few time and court conflicts and we will contact those affected directly but please check mid-week just to make sure.
